Hi, everyone. Harper Jones here with Bow-Tiger and you're watching Saturdays with Harper. And I wanted to discuss with you guys today, how do we determine whether the products and the toys that we're using for our children are safe, what determines that?

Well in the U.S. there is an organization called the CPSC, which is Consumer Product Safety Commission. And this organization helps you determine whether the products you're using are safe. They give specific specifications in regards to cribs, playpens, highchairs, and it's actually on any product available, but you can hone it down to your children's products. You can use this website also to see if any product that you've purchased has been recalled or maybe you received a product from a friend and you want to make sure that it's still good to use. You'll be able to look up specifications and you'll also be able to look up to see if there's ever been a recall on that product.

Another thing we want to watch out for is the expiration of products. Most specifically, that would be the car seats. Car seats do have an expiration and you cannot use a car seat after that expiration has hit. Another thing that you're not supposed to do is use a secondhand car seat. Car seats are always supposed to be bought new and there is reason for that and it's not retail. It's because the specifications of car seats are always updated to keep our kids as safe as we possibly can, and you want to make sure that all parts of that car seat function properly and are to standard from the company. The way you do that is purchasing new.
